There must be at least two leaders one of whom must have undertaken a recognised training such as a Helmsman Course or Scout or Guide Leader course described on our RYA Training page. The second leader requires narrowboat experience. Crew discipline is an important factor in water safety; the leader is responsible for maintaining appropriate discipline.
This allows up to 10 young people each trip. Mixed groups are possible, but please study the arrangement of beds on the plan. Disabled people can participate, but wheelchairs are not practical due to access and evacuation problems. Steps and gang planks need to be negotiated so physical disabilities need consideration.
